Anna Sullivan is an emerging Massachusetts-based artist who received her BFA in Photography from Lesley University College of Art and Design. Her work has been shown in exhibitions across the Greater Boston area including The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) in Cambridge, the Roberts and Raizes Galleries in Cambridge, and The Curated Fridge in Somerville. Using both analog and digital photography, her work explores themes of femininity, queerness, love, and community.
“My work is rooted in femininity and connection. I am interested in the nuances of relationships between women. The quiet moments of togetherness, the layered histories, the blurred boundaries where intimacy, friendship, and kinship intersect. Growing up as a twin has shaped my understanding of closeness. A relationship defined by mirroring, shared identity, and innate negotiations between self and other. That foundation continues to inform the way I move through the world, and how I depict connection.
I approach image making as a stage upon which I construct visual narratives informed by my own lived experience as a twin and a queer woman. Through these staged narratives, I portray moments that represent love, care, communal bliss, and shared experiences between women.”
